Betsy DeVos Remains Opposed to Decision to Rescind Federal Transgender Policy, But Maintains Her Cool During the Announcement
Many people know of Betsy DeVos as a publicly polite political leader. However, what they may not know is that there’s a lot more to her than what meets the eye. Ms. DeVos is also a fighter – a political pit pull of sorts.
Ms. Betsy DeVos is President Trump’s education secretary, who kept her cool when President Trump rescinded a federal transgender policy.
Under the Obama Administration, the previous policy allowed transgender students to use the same school restrooms that were associated with their sexual identity. However, during the Trump Administration, this, along with other policies created division among the Trump Party.
Ms. DeVos was in opposition with President Trump and resisted signing the new federal order. She, being an advocate for fairness within the educational system told President Trump that she was not comfortable with the revocation of the transgender bathroom order.
The Obama Administration’s position was initially rejected by the education department along with top officials from the justice department. These civil rights officials insisted that non-discrimination laws require that schools are to allow students of transgender sexual orientation to make their own choices when deciding on which bathroom to use. However, it’s been said that the order was not properly devised. It was also their belief that it lacked the due order with regards to the primary role of the state and the local school districts who are in fact responsible for establishing such educational policies.
Ms. DeVos showed no public sign of disagreement with President Trump. She gracefully participated in the announcement of the new policy that was rescinded by President Trump. However, she is an advocate of charter schools and relently fights against anyone that opposes her position. She’s also been known to go to bat for students when it comes to protection from areas associated with harassment of any sort, bullying or any form of discrimination.
Ms. DeVos was born into her family’s fortune. She uses it – at times- to assist with her political efforts when attempting to pass legislation and various policies within her home state of Michigan.
Ms. DeVos has been known to accomplish the goals that she sets, uprooting lawmakers who have been in opposition with her, and has been relentless when fighting for various causes within the political arena.
Betsy DeVos was born into a wealthy Prince conservative family. She was raised in a Dutch community and attended a Christian Reformed church located in Holland, Michigan, which is close to the Lake Michigan shores. She has been known by residents of her hometown as being both generous and pragmatic. Her dedication to education has often resulted in her being referred to as President Trump’s very controversial education secretary during her political efforts.

The Sacrifice And Hard Work Of Dick DeVos Have Continually Paid Off For The City Of Grand Rapids
There aren’t many people in the world who make countless sacrifices in order to serve the greater good. Dick DeVos is one of these people, and he has been working to improve his hometown of Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan for a good portion of his life. About three decades ago he had caught wind of a plan that was being considered by the public in Grand Rapids. The plan would approve the building of a sports and convention arena near the downtown part of Grand Rapids. While this may not have troubled others, DeVos was keenly aware of the problems this could cause for his city.
Dick DeVos made a decision to begin a lobbying effort to shut down the construction of the arena. In the past, he had been a witness to a similar disaster that had affected the city of Detroit. The city had decided to build the Pontiac Silverdome and Palace of Auburn Hills. This could have been great for the city and its sports teams, but it ended up being a huge problem when the Lions and Pistons vacated Detroit. DeVos did not want this same kind of thing to happen in Grand Rapids, and he wasn’t going to back down until he had helped to put a stop to it.
One of the positive side effects of the efforts of Dick DeVos was that a group of business leaders came together to help the city. The group is known as Grand Action, and it has taken part in the construction of many of the most important buildings in Grand Rapids. The DeVos Performance Hall and the DeVos Place Convention Center are in place because of Grand Action, and many other buildings have been built thanks to their efforts.
Dick DeVos is also responsible for bringing in Southwest Airlines to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. It was him who made the phone call to the CEO of the airline company to convince it to stay in Grand Rapids. He didn’t just talk the company into staying; he convinced Southwest to run nonstop flights out of the city’s airport. Dick DeVos also created the West Michigan Aviation Academy, which is ran right on the grounds of the very same airport. The school now serves 600 students who are all eager to learn more about what it means to succeed in the aviation industry. DeVos is a pilot, himself, and his enthusiasm for aviation is said to be contagious.

Betsy DeVos Meets Pitbull at His School
During her third visit to Florida to visit charter schools, Betsy DeVos hosted an event at a school in Miami alongside the rapper Pitbull who started his own charter school in the Florida area. At the event, Pitbull gave accolade to Betsy DeVos and her dedication to the policy of school of choice.
Before the event, DeVos visited a school in Washington with Melania Trump and the Queen of Jordan where she then spoke publicly of the school’s accomplishments and the empowerment parents have when give the choice of education for their children. Supporters of school of choice say the policy provides opportunities to low-income families, while critics say it allows private schools to receive public funding and experiment with educational practices which may not be beneficial to a student’s future.
DeVos, a billionaire from West Michigan, as used her power and wealth to advocate and set policies for education. Her opinions are controversial with opponents criticizing her lack of awareness with public school and adverse family conditions. DeVos often speaks and visits Florida schools which she claims the state is a national model of the voucher program and school of choice. Her family also has a home in Florida, and owns the Orlando Magic basketball team.
DeVos visited several facilities of higher education, including the CARE Elementary School which is an acronym for Christian Academy Reach Excellence. Similar to the voucher system, the school offer scholarships and tax incentives to corporations who provide or donate scholarships to families to cover tuition or other educational expenses. After, DeVos arrived at the SLAM charter school started by Pitbull. SLAM stands for sports leadership and management. The program enroll students ages sixth through twelfth. This is not the first charter school Pitbull has opened. It is one several, the first one was opened in his hometown of Miami. Since the opening, the charter school has averaged a C for its education effectiveness. Pitbull is not the only celebrity backer of charter schools. Puff Daddy and Andre Agassi have also been advocates of the educational institution. Although charter schools are on the rise in Florida, they are not doing as well other public schools, and the criticism in the state remains.

George Soros: Helping the World
JPost.com recently talked about how many sources are demonizing George Soros’s philanthropy. It’s sad that people can take good things and turn them into stupid claims and accusations. Every time a group belittles philanthropy, they lessen the world’s will to strive to for something better.
In recent years, many of George Soros’s activities have been targeted by right-wing conspiracy theorists. According to them, Soros is single-handedly behind the Charlottesville incident. He was funding both sides of the protests and rallies just to make it look like his philanthropy was doing something good for the world.
He’s also demonized for supporting the Women’s March and masterminding the Colin Kaepernick NFL protest. Somehow, Soros is also responsible for former national security advisor H.R. McMaster fired. And Roy Moore, Alabama Senate candidate says that Soros repeatedly hired women to falsely accuse him of sexual assault. Odd that none of these groups have any evidence of their claims.
One of Soros’s biggest contributions that pissed right wing supporters off was going against George W. Bush. In the early 2000s, he made a comment stating that he’d give up his entire fortune to prevent Bush’s reelection. Since then, he’s been an enemy of Republicans.
Regardless of who hates him, George Soros is still doing good deeds. According to the NY Times, he just made another massive donation to his Open Society Foundation. He’s been donating to the same foundation for decades, but now his contributions are notable as they’ve reached $18 billion.
For more than 30 years, Soros has donated between $800 and $900 million a year to his organization. Open Society’s put all of that money toward helping as many people all over the world. The only organization larger than Open Society is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; it’s obvious why.
Currently, Open Society is focused on saving America from itself. While it does operate in over 120 other counties, the United States appears to be its top priority right now. For years, the organization’s invested in programs to help domestic groups fighting for human rights.
Recently, the nation’s been in a severe fight over who will control the world. After Donald Trump’s presidential victory, hate groups spewed from the shadows and began attacking innocent people. Soros views it as his duty to protect as many people as possible.

New Secretary of Education’s Philanthropy Comes Under Critical Spotlight
The DeVos family is one of the most prominent politically active families in the country. They donate a lot of money to the conservative political causes they support. First and foremost is school choice. That recently resulted in President Trump nominating Betsy DeVos to serve as Secretary of Education. According to their political opponents, they use their donations just to advance their political agenda. Recently MLive took a closer look at the family’s history of contributions. They found that the family’s charitable giving dwarfs the money they do donate to outright charities that work directly to improve the lives of recipients. Also, the article found, the couple are famous for donating without attaching conditions to how the money must spent. There are exceptions, but only when the couple insists on something that makes the difference. For instance, they contributed to the Spectrum Health Foundation to recruit one of the country’s top childhood cancer doctors. That resulted in an improvement rate for children treated for neuroblastoma at the Helen DeVos’ Children’s Hospital.
The family does donate a lot of money to education, especially to schools. They financed their own charter high school, the West Michigan Aviation Academy. Its graduation rate is 86%. Out of the graduating class, 15 were licensed pilots. It stands on the ground of Gerald R. Ford International Airport. They also help the school’s annual fundraiser succeed with guests not seen at a typical high school rally: former President George W. Bush and Apollo astronauts. 40% of the student body are minorities. One-third of them qualify as economically deprived. 40% are minorities. The DeVos family also supports the Potter House Christian School in Grand Rapids. That is where they first became inspired to support education directly and politically through bringing about school choice. And Betsy DeVos has served as a mentor to students at the school.
They also support civic organizations, the arts and churches, including the popular Chicago church Willow Creek. Forbes magazine estimates they have donated a total of $139 million total over the years.
Dick DeVos is the son of Richard DeVos, the co-founder of Amway. He began his business career packing boxes of Amway products at his childhood home. He became an official employee at the company in 1974. In 1984 he became a vice-president in charge of expanding the company’s operations to other countries. During his time, he increased foreign profits of the company from just 5% to 50%. He spent time in charge of the Orlando Magic, then went on to serve as president of Amway, succeeding his father. He left that position to handle his own private business, the Windquest Group. He owns various businesses, including the Green Machine, which converts waste heat into electricity. In 2006 he ran for governor of Michigan, but lost the general election.
