Securus Technology Corrects GTL’s Misleading Press Release
According to the news report published on June 9, 2016, by the PRNewswire, Securus Technologies, a leading service provider of criminal justice and local solutions for correctional facilities, provided corrections for the GTL earlier press release, which occurred on 7 June 2016. Securus Technology stated that the GTL press release was not only misleading but also inaccurate; hence, the need to offer a new press release with corrections.
The first press release by GTL stated that the current decision by the U.S Patent Trial in addition to the Board of Appeal grants GTL the permission to proceed with the fourth validation in pursuing injunctions against Securus Technologies. Securus Technologies corrected the press release statement by saying that there was no validation of the lawsuit by the U.S Appeals Board; hence, GTL will not be able to pursue injunctions like stated in their press release.
On the issue of GTL appreciating the PTBA for allowing them to proceed with the case against Securus Technologies on technology protection, Securus highlighted that the PTBA did not determine any patent rights. Besides, the PTBA refused to review the GTL claims, so there was no question of GTL going back to court. Secures also corrected the allegation on GTL’s press statement about returning to court to prove to the jury that Securus infringes the patent including three GTL patents. Securus stated that the jury would not hear GTL’s evidence any time soon as if GTL had reported but in the case of a court hearing, the jury would be the sole determinant of the winner.
