Tempus Labs Co-Founder Eric Lefkofsky

Eric Lefkofsky is the co-founder and CEO of Tempus a company that was formed in 2015. Tempus is a company that empowers doctors through technology to be able to personalize cancer treatment through data analysis. Eric studied in University of Michigan between 1987 and 1991 and received his Juris in Michigan school of law.

He also is the co-founder of Lightbank which is a fund investing venture in disruptive technologies. Eric is also the co-founder as well as the chairman of Groupon, an international e-commerce marketplace. He also leads Echo Global Logistics and Inner Workings as well as a founding investor in Uptake Technologies.

Tempus Inc. analyses therapeutic and molecular data and provides genomic sequencing services that helps researchers and physicians make real-time and data-driven decisions. The idea cropped after seeing the less data available in hospitals and especially for cancer cases. So Eric thought of introducing technology in medical industry, to capture and store medical data. This data is used to curb the intensity, find out more effective medicines and therapy for cancer patients. This has helped reduce costs of often having to research on the types of cancer as well as effective methods of treatments.

The main agenda, is to increase knowledge for medics to use on current cancer patients based on findings from past patients. This makes the diagnosis easy and start of treatment sooner. Tempus aims to build the largest library for clinical and molecular data. They also aim to ensure the data is not just stored but made accessible and useful by use of a good operating system.

Eric Lefkofsky is also charitable man. In 2006, he establishes a private charitable organization named Lefkofsky Family Foundation. The foundation, which he runs with his wife, seeks to enhance lives in those communities where they are established through high-impact initiatives.
